What is a microphone test?
A microphone test shows whether your browser can hear your microphone and how loud it is. This tool displays a live level bar and records a short take you can play back, all inside your browser tab. The recording is not uploaded, and you can save it as WAV or MP3 when the browser can decode it.
How do I test my microphone online?
To test a microphone online, press start, allow microphone access when the browser asks, and speak while you watch the level bar. If the bar moves, the microphone is working. If it stays empty, the wrong input may be selected in the system or the browser site settings, or the microphone may be muted. Press stop to play the recording back and hear how you sound. The browser asks for permission once, and nothing is sent anywhere when you allow it. The recording is not uploaded and is kept only in this tab until you leave or reload. You can save the take as a WAV or an MP3 when the browser can decode its own recording, otherwise the original recording can still be saved. The test does not fix a bad microphone. If you need the voice clearer or louder, open Crisp Audio or Volume Booster. It is free and needs no account.

What this does not do

FAQ
Why is the level flat?
The microphone may be muted, or another input device is selected in the system or in the browser site settings. Check that the browser has permission to use the microphone, pick the right input, and speak closer to it. If the bar still stays empty, try another browser or reload the page. Nothing is sent anywhere while you test.
Is the recording stored?
Only in this tab, until you leave or reload the page. The recording is kept in the browser's memory so you can play it back and save it, and it is never uploaded. Closing or reloading the tab discards it. Save the take as a file if you want to keep it.
Can I download it?
Yes. You can save the take as a WAV or an MP3 when the browser can decode its own recording. If it cannot, the original recording can still be saved. The recording is made and saved on your device, and nothing is uploaded. Use the saved file in Crisp Audio or Volume Booster if the voice needs to be clearer or louder.
